Mount Wachusett Community College mother and son alumni Heidi (’13) and Branden Burke (’21) have been serving at the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic since early spring. Heidi traveled and lived in New York City and Texas, and Branden in Texas to working in hospitals hit hard by the COVID -19 pandemic. The pair worked 12-hour shifts, 84 hours a week with a day off every 21 days in challenging conditions.
Both have recently returned from Texas as Branden completes his final year of the Nursing program at ¾º²ÊÍø, and prepares to graduate in May 2021. They sat down with ¾º²ÊÍøÂ Vice President Enrollment & Public Affairs Lea Ann Scales to share their story as part of the college’s STEM Week events.
